Mohs Histotechnician

Soine Dermatology & Aesthetics is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Mohs Histotechnician to join our growing dermatology team. This position will support our Mohs Micrographic Surgery program and work between our Covington and Hammond, Louisiana locations.

Position Summary

The Mohs Histotechnician is responsible for processing and preparing tissue specimens obtained during Mohs Micrographic Surgery. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process Mohs tissue specimens using frozen section techniques.
• Embed, section, stain, and mount tissue samples for microscopic evaluation.
• Maintain accurate specimen identification and chain of custody procedures.
• Ensure timely slide preparation to support efficient surgical workflow.
• Perform routine maintenance and quality control of laboratory equipment.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, and laboratory safety standards.
• Assist physicians and clinical staff during Mohs surgery procedures as needed.
• Manage laboratory inventory and supplies.
• Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Support patient care initiatives and uphold exceptional customer service standards.

Qualifications Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in histology laboratory procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between Covington and Hammond locations.

Preferred:

• Completion of a Histotechnology program.
• Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) through the ASCP.
• Previous Mohs Histotechnician experience.
• Dermatology or surgical laboratory experience.
