Grossing Technician Job Details:

Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Days may vary)

Location: 2220 Canterbury Dr, Hays KS 67601

Starting Pay Rate: $30.00 / hour + (based on experience)

Temporary to hire

Grossing Technician Responsibilities:

• Prepare and gross routine surgical specimens according to laboratory procedures
• Ensure accurate specimen accessioning, labeling, and patient identification
• Describe gross anatomical findings, including lesions, sutures, and specimen markings
• Record specimen measurements, weight, volume, and abnormal findings
• Dissect specimens and prepare tissues for histologic processing
• Escalate complex specimens to Pathologist Assistants as needed
• Complete required laboratory documentation and paperwork accurately
• Communicate with pathologists regarding specimen dissection and grossing activities
• Identify and report issues that may affect testing quality or result reporting
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Job Requirements:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree or equivalent training and experience required
• 3 months to 1 year of histology and/or surgical grossing experience preferred
• Knowledge of surgical specimen handling and histology procedures preferred
• Must meet applicable CLIA and corporate qualification requirements and Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, safety, and quality assurance standards.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform detailed laboratory work
