Loadout Technician

Job Title: Loadout TechnicianOverview

The Loadout Technician is responsible for safely loading and unloading shipments while ensuring accuracy in documentation, product quality, and regulatory compliance. This role supports shipping/receiving, performs basic product testing, operates material handling equipment, and assists with plant operations in a safe, food-grade environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Load/unload trucks, railcars, totes, and containers safely and efficiently
• Work at heights on trailers and railcars in all weather conditions
• Complete shipping/receiving documentation (logs, bills of lading, packing lists) accurately
• Perform basic lab analysis on inbound products
• Verify freight bills and shipment details
• Maintain cleanliness of the tank farm and truck bay
• Receive and inventory parts and supplies
• Enter customer and shipment data into systems
• Handle customer sample requests and communications (phone/email)
• Operate forklifts, telehandlers, pallet jacks, and company vehicles (e.g., box truck)
• Follow all PPE, food safety, and occupational safety requirements
• Assist with plant operations, maintenance, and cross-functional tasks
• Participate in training and respond to after-hours operational needs

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of shipping/receiving experience
• 2+ years of forklift experience
• Experience with material handling and shipping documentation
• Basic lab/testing or quality inspection experience
• Strong customer service and data entry skills
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work at heights
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic computer proficiency
• Ability to work indoors/outdoors in varying conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with telehandlers and pallet jacks
• Inventory and recordkeeping experience
• Familiarity with shipping regulations and standards
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills

Work Environment

• PPE required (steel-toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses)
• Physically active role including climbing and heavy lifting

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
