Position Summary:
The Per Diem Registered School Nurse provides temporary nursing coverage throughout the district in the absence of regularly assigned nursing staff. The RN will oversee daily health office operations, respond to student medical needs, administer medications, maintain health documentation, and help ensure a safe and healthy school environment in accordance with district policies and New York State regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Student Health & Clinical Care
• Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies
• Provide first aid and nursing interventions as appropriate
• Monitor students with chronic health conditions and individualized health plans
• Administer prescribed medications and emergency treatments in compliance with physician orders and district procedures

Health Office Management:
• Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines
• Document all nursing assessments, treatments, and communications thoroughly
• Ensure medical supplies and emergency equipment are properly maintained

Communication & Collaboration:
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers to support student health needs
• Provide guidance regarding communicable diseases, wellness concerns, and student safety
• Support district health initiatives and emergency preparedness protocols

School Safety & Wellness:
• Promote a healthy and safe learning environment for all students and staff
• Respond effectively during emergencies and school-wide health situations
• Assist with health screenings and other nursing-related district initiatives as needed

Qualifications:
Required
• Active and valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Current CPR and AED/BLS certification
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Compliance with New York State Education Department fingerprinting requirements (at candidate’s expense)
