This role focuses on preventative and reactive maintenance for concrete block production machinery, including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and other heavy industrial equipment. The position requires working comfortably at heights and in an outdoor, heavy-industrial environment while ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial equipment used in concrete block and ready-mix production.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on production equipment such as conveyors, material handling systems, plant machinery, and supporting equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and fittings.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems, including air lines, FRLs, regulators, actuators, and solenoids.
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance tasks such as replacing bearings, gearboxes, chains and sprockets, shafts, rollers, belts, and couplings.
  • Align and level mechanical components to ensure proper operation and reduce wear.
  • Support preventive maintenance and reliability activities, including inspections, lubrication, vibration and noise checks, and documentation of all maintenance and repair work.
  • Perform steel fabrication and torch cutting to repair or modify equipment and structures as needed.
  • Install new equipment and perform facility maintenance on buildings and plant infrastructure.
  • Install electrical panels and underground barriers as part of equipment and facility projects, within the scope of the role.
  • Perform basic electrical work such as wiring motors and assisting with troubleshooting of electrical components.
  • Interpret electrical schematics to support troubleshooting of controls, sensors, and related systems beyond basic tasks.
  • Work with 3-phase motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and industrial troubleshooting tools such as multimeters and amp clamps, as required by plant scope.
  • Perform stick welding and some MIG welding on equipment and structural components as needed.
  • Read and follow blueprints and work instructions to complete maintenance, fabrication, and installation tasks.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area in a heavy-industrial, concrete production environment.
  • Work at heights when required to access equipment, structures, and systems.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance and operations personnel to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an industrial setting.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills on industrial production equipment, including conveyors and material handling systems.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and fittings.
  • Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including air lines, FRLs, regulators, actuators, and solenoids.
  • Ability to perform preventative and reactive maintenance on industrial machinery.
  • Ability to fabricate parts using steel fabrication techniques and torch cutting.
  • Ability to perform stick welding and some MIG welding on equipment and structures.
  • Basic electrical skills, including wiring motors and supporting electrical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics to assist with troubleshooting controls and sensors.
  • Experience working with 3-phase motors and, where applicable, variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Proficiency using industrial troubleshooting tools such as multimeters and amp clamps.
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify root causes of mechanical issues.
  • Comfort working at heights to access and service equipment.
  • Capability to work in an outdoor, heavy-industrial environment with exposure to dust, heat, and concrete materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience performing industrial maintenance in concrete, ready-mix, or similar heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with installation of new industrial equipment and related systems.
  • Familiarity with automation and industrial controls in a production environment.
  • Experience in diesel or heavy equipment maintenance is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail in documenting maintenance activities and following work instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to reliability and preventative maintenance.
