Job Summary
The Pathologist Assistant provides anatomic pathology services under the supervision of a Pathologist. The role involves surgical specimen dissection, frozen section assistance, tissue selection, gross examination, autopsy assistance, and preparation of pathology specimens for diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, grossly describe, and dissect human surgical tissue specimens.
Assist with frozen section evaluations.
Perform gross examination and tissue selection.
Conduct cryotomy procedures and specimen staining for intraoperative evaluations.
Assist Pathologists with surgical pathology procedures.
Participate in human postmortem examinations (autopsies).
Dictate and document gross findings accurately.
Ensure proper specimen handling and processing according to pathology standards.
Required Qualifications
Experience
Minimum 1 year of relevant Pathologist Assistant experience.
Education
Completion of an accredited Pathologist Assistant Training Program.
Certification
Current Pathologist's Assistant Certification (ASCP) required.
Licensed Pathologist Assistant.
