Summary:
The Driver Supervisor is responsible for the safe transportation of our patients, visitors and staff. Assure appropriate staffing levels. Supervises the daily effort of all drivers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Assists in filling in for vacancies for days off, vacations and FML o Must be able to accommodate our customers' needs. Address and resolve problems related to any drive and or driver.
- Schedules the drivers on a daily basis. Organizes the days based on need.
- Works with the Director of Purchasing/Transportation on vehicle maintenance needs.
- Charts and logs all vehicles.
- Keeps and maintains records and inventories of all vehicles.
- Keeps and maintains the State of Wisconsin annual vehicle checks.
- Assure self and drivers maintain vehicles.
- Responsible for leading Department Huddle.
- Approves and tracks PT o Reports to Director of Purchasing/Transportation to approve in Kronos.
- Assures drivers meet all training requirements, not limited to but including BLS and annual competencies.
- Assists with and gives feedback on annual driver Performance Reviews.
- Conduct random "ride along" with drivers to audit driver safety.
Patient Transportation
- Operates Hospital vehicles to transport patients, visitors and staff as requested.
- Operates Hospital vehicles to transport supplies, equipment, inter-office mail, specimens, etc. as requested.
- Takes all necessary precautions and observes all traffic laws.
- During transports, is responsible for the safety, location and well-being of the people being transported.
- Will only transport minors (those individuals under the age of 18) with clinical staff, parent or guardian in the vehicle with the driver.
Vehicle Responsibility
- Assigned Vehicle - Checks lights, fluid levels and safety equipment on a daily basis. Maintains the appearance and cleanliness (interior and exterior) on a daily basis.
- Vehicle Fleet - All drivers are responsible for the appearance (interior and exterior), cleanliness, safety, maintenance and fuel level for all Hospital owned vehicles. Driver Supervisor assures these tasks are complete.
- Assures all Hospital vehicles have up to date registration and insurance cards in their assigned pouch.
- Assures all pouches have a handicap placard and gas card.
- Assures all Hospital vehicles have their safety box, and all items are accounted for.
- Drivers must carry emergency phone numbers on their assigned cell phone, 911, insurance company, towing service.
Professionalism
- Complies with hospital-directed dress code. Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Follows all directive of the Director of Purchasing/Transportation.
- Complies with hospital policies and procedures. Complies with hospital safety, employee health, staff education, and performance improvement programs.
- Communicates in a respectful, professional manner with all patients, staff and visitors.
- Begins drives on time and is prepared for job responsibilities.
- Complies with on-call policy and maintains availability during schedule on-call periods.
- Must report any vehicle related incident, accident or ticket, work or non-work related to Director of Purchasing/Transportation immediately.
Multi-disciplinary Function
- Assist hospital staff with search of patient luggage.
- Assist in the training and orientation of a new driver under the direction of the Director of Purchasing/Transportation.
- Take personal responsibility to communicate daily with assigned staff during the coordination of patient transports.
- Work as a member of a team.
Additional Job Description:
Physical/Mental Demands:
- Verbal and hearing ability to interact with patients and employees. Numerical ability required to maintain records.
- Must be able to read and communicate through written, verbal and auditory skills and abilities.
- Good hand and eye coordination. Manual dexterity for skillful driving. Must possess the skills to drive-in all-weather conditions.
- Must be able to read maps and operate a GPS to find locations in unfamiliar territory.
- Must be able to spend 50% of their time driving.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds.
- Physically/Mentally able to perform job duties as verified by a physical exam by a licensed physician, per post-employment physical.
Education/Training Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver's License. Must be approved by Rogers Memorial Hospital insurance carrier.
- Previous experience in transporting people preferred.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification required within 30 days of hire. Recertification as required by the Hospital.
- Experience in the mental health field preferred.
- Minimum of one year driving patients or related experience.
- Minimum of one year of scheduling drives for others or related leadership experience.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday; 7-3:30 PM OR 8-4:30 PM depending on needs of department
