Site Superintendent
Lead field execution for a high performing mechanical subcontractor on a cutting edge data center and energy performance projects. As the on-site team leader you will supervise daily operations, enforce safety, maintain quality, and drive schedule and budget performance while building strong relationships with owners, consultants, and subcontractors. This role requires a hands-on leader who can deliver complex projects up to $20M and manage multiple priorities across one or more job sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site leadership and supervision for all field activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Enforce safety by keeping the site clean, conducting safety meetings, acting as the competent person for on-site safety concerns, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Schedule and supervise labor and materials including short interval scheduling, daily coordination, and ensuring supervision is present whenever work is performed.
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to ensure efficient sequencing, scope clarity, and high quality workmanship.
- Maintain client relationships by acting professionally, communicating frequently, and representing the company at the jobsite.
- Communicate project status regularly with the Project Manager and executives, escalating issues and proposing recovery plans as needed.
- Support project controls by assisting the Project Manager with budget and schedule management, tracking progress, and supporting change management.
- Resolve jobsite conflicts quickly and thoroughly to minimize impact on schedule and quality.
- Maintain project documentation including as-built drawings, inspection records, commissioning and punch list items, and turnover documentation.
- Coordinate inspections and commissioning and support owner training and final acceptance activities.
- Protect tools and equipment by ensuring proper use, maintenance, and accountability.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Broad technical knowledge of foundations, structural systems, interior finishes, exterior wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proven track record delivering general, mechanical, or electrical projects up to $20M.
- Strong organizational and management skills with the ability to create and maintain short interval schedules and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written for clear coordination with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Team builder who creates a supportive, productive jobsite environment and mentors field staff.
- Computer proficiency including Bluebeam or PDF tools, spreadsheets, online plan rooms, email, Microsoft Office Suite, and scheduling software such as Microsoft Project.
- Attention to detail with strong follow up and documentation habits.
- Ability to travel and work across multiple job sites as required.
Education and Experience
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years as a Project Superintendent on large mechanical and/or electrical projects, or equivalent combination of experience. Alternate backgrounds considered include 5+ years as an Assistant Superintendent on large projects or multiple years as a lead carpenter or sheet metal foreman.
