Superintendent (Healthcare Construction - OSHPD/HCAI)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead healthcare construction projects with a focus on OSHPD and HCAI requirements. The Superintendent will manage daily field operations, maintain schedule and quality, enforce safety and infection control protocols, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory standards for healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring work meets schedule, budget, quality, and safety goals.
- Implement and enforce OSHPD requirements, HCAI/infection control procedures, and other healthcare-specific regulations throughout construction.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, craft workers, vendors, and inspectors; resolve conflicts and maintain productive trade relationships.
- Develop, manage, and communicate detailed daily and weekly schedules; identify and mitigate potential delays and resource constraints.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks; ensure compliance with contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Lead pre-construction and coordination meetings with stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, and facility representatives.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, progress reports, RFIs, submittals, change order documentation, and as-built records.
- Manage site safety programs, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure adherence to company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Coordinate with hospital operations to minimize disruption to patient care; manage access, noise, dust control, and infection prevention measures.
- Mentor and supervise field personnel; support training to uphold quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Superintendent or Senior Field Supervisor experience on healthcare construction projects, including OSHPD-regulated work.
- Proven knowledge and experience with OSHPD review/approval processes, HCAI/infection control protocols, and healthcare facility construction standards.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and submittals.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills; experience coordinating multiple trades and stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of construction scheduling tools (MS Project, Primavera) and proficiency with project documentation and reporting.
- OSHA 30 certification required; additional safety, infection control, or OSHPD-specific training/certifications preferred.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; willingness to work flexible hours and be on-call as project needs require.
