    General Manager

    GENERAL MANAGER STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

    The GM manages the operations and staff of a Wendy’s restaurant, including the execution of all Company policies, procedures, programs and systems. The GM also ensures objectives are reached in all areas while following all Company guidelines, ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws and ethical business practices. The GM also creates, fosters, and maintains an “Employer of Choice” environment and provides leadership, direction, training and development to subordinate managers and crew.

    GENERAL MANAGER ACCOUNTABILITIES

    Manages sales goals versus budget and prior year, including participation in marketing programs. Develops and implements appropriate plans to resolve unfavorable trends and enhance sales.

    Manages profit goals versus budget and prior year. Manages food, labor and paper costs and other controllable expenses. Develops and implements appropriate plans to resolve unfavorable trends and enhance profits.

    Ensures the execution of the restaurants overall Human Resources programs. Ensures proper staffing levels are achieved. Maintains an on-going system for the recruitment, development, recognition and retention of store management and crew. Conducts quality, timely performance feedback and performance appraisals for store management. Oversees and participates in providing quality, timely performance feedback and performance appraisals for crew. Works with local HR staff to manage “Speak Out” process at store level, ensuring expedient and appropriate resolution. Ensures compliance with all federal state and local employment laws.

    Achieves and maintains Sparkle certification through the execution of Quality, Service and Cleanliness standards on all day parts, including the monitoring of food product quality. Ensures all food safety procedures are executed according to Company policy and health/sanitation regulations; take corrective actions, as required. Ensures guest relation policies/procedures are being executed.

    Provides proper training and development through established systems and follows through to ensure compliance with Company Standards.

    Ensures store compliance with Company operating policies and procedures. Works with District Manager to establish store priorities, and develops and executes store plans. Informally evaluates store performance, receives and incorporates feedback from store inspections, and implements action plans to improve store ratings. Conducts regular managers meetings to communicate and reinforce priorities. 

    Ensures execution of Company policies and procedures for the control of cash, property, product and equipment. Maintains safe working conditions. Ensures overall maintenance of the facility and execution of preventive maintenance.

    Completes all administrative requirements and reports. Manages employee files, payroll records and other Company records in accordance with Company policies and legislative regulations.

    Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned or required.

    Requirements

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    The ideal candidate should have successful previous experience in a restaurant setting, plus strong coaching and training skills to help others grow their careers, 'over the top' customer service skills, super organizational skills and the ability to accomplish the sales and profit goals. College degree or equivalent experience in operations; and one year of line operations experience in the restaurant industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (under additional requirements)

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    The General Manager must be able to stand for long periods without a break, and be able to travel to the bank, other restaurants, Area Office, etc.
