As a member of the logistics group, the Logistics Planner-Customer Routed Freight will be responsible for managing shipment planning, creating loads within the required TMS system, managing carrier and facility communications as they apply to order movement, carrier development, and appointment scheduling as well as; managing communications with various operational and commercial groups, leading freight optimization projects, warehousing capacity studies and market reporting in assigned areas for Collect/Third Party Freight.

Responsibilities

1. Accountable for responding to email inquiries as assigned and executing the day to day load planning activities for IM, LTL, and TL shipments for Customer Routed Freight.

2. Supports transportation planning over assigned locations when necessary.

3. Serves as liaison between logistics, customer service, the carrier, and the customer in order to develop strong operating processes and pro-active communications.

4. Provides periodic updates of shipment status, reacts to priority issues, and help requests in a timely manner.

5. Assists in the resolution of damage claims and carrier service issues as required.

6. Identifies areas of opportunity that lead to greater efficiencies and lower costs.

7. Drives onboarding of Customer Directed freight providers into TMS for maximum visibility and efficiency.

8. Executes on projects that increase efficiencies and maximize cost advantages.

9. Reviews and implements changes to processes to keep them current.

10. Supports and provides training to new hires or others as required.

11. Demonstrated knowledge of other logistics roles.

12. Plans for sites and performs tasks as assigned by Manager.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, or closely related equivalent

2-3 years' experience in transportation industry required

Knowledge of LTL/TL pricing formats

Experience using a TMS system required

Ability to lead and influence in a matrix environment

Proficiency in gathering, analyzing and interpreting data.

JDE/Cognos/Tableau proficiency a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related Office applications

Effectively communicate with customers, both external and internal

Competencies

Proven analytical and problem solving skills

With a full understanding of the impact of role to total business costs

Excellent attention to details

Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including knowledge and understanding of specialist systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Bill of Material (BOM) and customer data systems

Advanced Excel user

Ability to analyze and manipulate technical and complex data and provide meaningful information
