The Corporate Automation Engineer supports new capital projects from concept to completion, with an emphasis on automated part handling and "end of line" automation.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize a project management stage gate process to lead capital automation projects.
  • Provide electrical / mechanical support and technical expertise throughout project life cycle.
  • Provide technical support on current and future continuous improvement projects.
  • Work without direct supervision to lead the set-up and integration of automation equipment.
  • Optimize the performance of automated equipment, inspection equipment and robotic work cells.
  • Manage supplier relationships, define and negotiate project requirements and establish equipment specifications.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel on training instructions and standard operating procedures for use in equipment implementation.
  • Train plant production and technical departments on the operations and maintenance of new equipment.
  • Participate in all aspects of cost savings, continuous improvement and innovation initiatives.
  • Preferred location is in the Midwest with the ability to travel (~50%) to manufacturing plants and suppliers.
Qualifications

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED; College or relevant work experience
Preferred:
  • Associate Degree or higher in Engineering or Computer Integrated Manufacturing
Other Qualifications:
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management, organization and problem solving skills
  • Ability to apply knowledge of mechanical and / or electrical systems and automation machine set-ups
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in blown / cast film manufacturing
  • Creating 2D or 3D machine drawings
Preferred Computer Software Knowledge/Skills:
  • Microsoft Office
  • PLC, HMI and robot programming experience
