Job Summary/Basic Function
The principal role of the Computer Lab Monitor is to maintain an atmosphere that is physically tidy and conducive to academic pursuits by enforcing the boundaries established by Computer Lab and Liberty University polices. Computer Lab Monitors enforces these policies in a way that is pleasant, firm, and consistent. This is a professional position which demands courteous interactions with our customers and a professional, attentive posture while staffing service points.
Computer Lab Monitors are assigned to work primarily within Liberty University Computer Labs, but other locations may be assigned. Computer Lab Monitors must be self-motivated, capable of enforcing rules, and able to monitor quiet areas for extended periods. In addition to normal job duties, Monitors will receive weekly on-the-job training that is beneficial for developing skills necessary to performing job duties well and to prepare them for future careers.
This position reports to the Student Employment Coordinator and other Computer Lab Staff as assigned. This is a part-time, work study position and applicants should expect to work 14-17 hours each week. Because the Computer Lab is open regularly until 2:00 am and on weekends, Monitors may be required to work nights and/or weekends.
• Ability to communicate proficiently with others and follow instructions in both verbal and written formats
• Promptness and reliability to follow scheduled hours
• Lifting and carrying loads of up to 50 lbs.
• CumulativeGPAof 2.7 or higher
• Work Study eligibility for the current semester
• Previous customer service experience
• Previous experience in a position dealing with confrontation or the enforcement of policies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and standard office technologies
The position is offered from 14 to 17 hours per week at an hourly rate. The position may include working any time between the hours of 7 AM and 2 AM, plus weekends.
