The Department of Neurosurgery at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible neurosurgeon with expertise in complex spinal surgery to join a group of skilled neurosurgeons in a highly collaborative academic environment. This is an open rank fixed-term faculty position with UNC-Chapel Hill, and rank and salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
While this position will practice in the Chapel Hill area, the Department provides advanced adult neurosurgery services in Chapel Hill and at a growing number of regional offices that include Hillsborough, Pinehurst, Rocky Mount and South Boston, Virginia. We offer pediatric services in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Pinehurst and Wilmington. Our clinical team in Chapel Hill also includes one neuro-oncologist, one physiatrist, four nurse practitioners and four nurses. The neurosurgery facilities include a state-of-the-art spine and imaging center that offers a full range of treatment options.
Candidate must be an MD, board-certified or board-eligible. Completion of spinal surgery fellowship training is highly desired.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate would have expertise in performing adult deformity surgery, be able to apply minimally invasive spinal surgery techniques, and have a track record and motivation to participate in resident education and clinical research endeavors. The ability to work well with neurosurgical, critical care, and other clinician partners is of paramount importance.
The position requires that the candidate have, or be able to obtain, a medical license in the state of North Carolina and be credentialed to practice medicine at UNC Health Care System.
