BJC Behavioral Health is a community health center that provides and coordinates behavioral health services for more than 6,000 seriously mentally ill adults and seriously emotionally disturbed children in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Franois, Iron and Washington counties. As an Administrative Agent of the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) serves as a major point of entry for people eligible for mental health services funded by DMH and is responsible for serving as gatekeeper to the public mental health system. BJC Behavioral Health also administers the BJC Employee Assistance Program ad Behavioral Health Partners, an administrative services organization.
The Lead Staff LPN is responsible for leading a team of Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in providing patient care under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position serves as an experienced role model within the practice by supporting compliance, providing cross-training, ensuring efficient flow of daily operations with all personnel and patients, following practice protocols and performing procedures within the practice.
ResponsibilitiesActs as LPN/MA clinical subject matter expert to assist practice management in oversight of coverage and daily patient operations; ensures that clinical protocols and patient assessment guidelines are followed in accordance with standard operating procedures and compliance guidelines.Provides and monitors training and oversight of clinical personnel regarding their respective job functions and/or assumes the job responsibility for staff members who might need help or coverage with their assigned duties.Provides general nursing services to patients under the supervision of a physician, within the scope of practice for the LPN; appropriately documents patient assessment and treatment protocols in accordance with compliance standards; trains and performs various lab procedures according to set standards.Performs triage of incoming escalated patient requests.Monitors enforcement of HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, Medication Management and Infection Prevention procedures for cleaning and sterilization of equipment or instruments.BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position.
