The Laboratory Assistant will assist in culturing cells, performing enzymatic assays, physiologic/metabolic tests on mice, performing immunoassays and western blots, and standard microscopy studies. This work will facilitate the overall objective of the lab, which is to understand intravascular triglyceride hydrolysis and the role of nuclear lamins in health and disease.

Required: Prior experience in biologic research. Skill in laboratory techniques. Working knowledge of basic laboratory equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and to understand and carry out verbal instructions. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively to receive and convey information accurately and in a professional manner. Be well organized, keep neat and detailed records. Ability to manage a heavy workload with shifting priorities and to ensure completion of all work in a timely manner. Analytical skills to assess relevant information, practices and procedures, define problems, formulate logical solutions, develop alternative solutions and to make recommendations. Ability to work with mice and maintain accurate records of all mouse studies.
Preferred: Skill in laboratory safety protocols including proper handling of biohazardous and chemical waste.
