Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Design and Integration (MDI) /Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Resiliency and Rapid Prototyping Division. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
This role will support a rapid development program during the development phase to CDR. The MDI/SE Engineer will be the key interface lead between the payload design and the bus design, including rapid prototyping of demo units to show payload/bus performance. This role also requires development of ICD's and drawings as need to support the program, and development of a qualification and test plan to verify and validate lifetime requirements.
Responsibilities include performing the technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
- Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline from an ABET accredited university with a MINIMUM of 5 years (3 years with a Masters, 0 years with a PhD) of systems integration experience
- Experience in Rapid Development Programs and demonstration of prototypes
- Must have experience with hardware development and interfacing
- Must have and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government security clearance at the Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years.
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science
-Ability to work both independent and in a team in a fast-paced environment, and brief technical approach and status to senior management
