Perform Vehicle System Mechanic job duties. Support the design, fabrication, inspection, test, and shipping of various inert hardware such as fins, tailcans, interstages, launch lugs, electro-mechanical devices, ignition systems, etc. Assist in maintenance, inspection, and test of launch support equipment, including launchers. Assist in tracking and calibration of support equipment such as tools, fixtures, boxes, etc.
Perform Rocket Motor Technician job duties. Support the inspection, assembly, test, and shipping of various rocket motors, igniters, nozzles, and electro-explosive devices per written procedures and direction of ordnance certified personnel. Perform launch vehicle and pad operations prior to and during countdowns under the direction of the launch pad supervisor. Acquire and maintain rocket motor pyro ordnance handler certification.
Perform Payload Technician job duties. Support the design, fabrication, inspection, test, and shipping of various vehicle payload systems and components such as nosetips, telemetry, attitude control systems, subpayload deployment, separation systems, etc. Support these components and systems during acceptance testing, payload integration, environmental testing, field operations, and launch.
Prior experience with powered and hand mechanics tools required.
Prior experience with mechanical fabrication methods such as manual milling and lathe, drilling, tapping, sheet metal, etc required.
Prior experience with pyrotechnics or ordnance systems required.
Ability to acquire and maintain an ordnance handler's certification required.
Ability to acquire and maintain an overhead crane and forklift license required.
Ability to acquire and maintain a DoD Security Clearance - SECRET - required.
Ability to acquire and maintain a valid U.S. passport required.
Ability to travel to remote launch ranges, including OCONUS, for extended periods of time (ex.4-8weeks) and perform under high pressure testing and launch operations required.
Prior experience with handling, inspecting, assembling, testing, and fielding aerospace or aeronautical hardware and systems desired.
Prior experience with CNC mechanical fabrication desired.
Prior experience with pneumatics and hydraulics systems desired.
Prior experience with overhead crane lifting and forklift operation desired.
Prior experience following written procedures and reading technical drawings and specifications desired.
Strong problem solving and communications skills, working in a team environment with other technicians and engineers desired.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently as well as lead small teams desired.
