Northrop Grumman Space Systems sector is seeking an EO/IR Systems Engineer to join the Payloads and Ground Systems, Systems Engineering Integration & Test department and be responsible for developing optical instruments for potential future space optical payloads. The successful candidate will be involved in optical payload definition and procurement to include optical systems architecture, requirements definition, design trade studies, interface definition, optical integration and alignment, and optical system test, verification and validation. The candidate may support aspects of the space optical payload with any number the following Space Mission domains: spacecraft mission planning and operations, states and modes, power systems, attitude control, telemetry and data handling, thermal control, static and dynamic structures.

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) & 14 years of relevant experience (OR 12 years with Master of Science Degree OR 9 years with PhD) in the design and testing of EO/IR payload systems.
Proficiency with MATLAB.
Experience in one or more of the following remote sensing instrument topics: optics and coatings, hyperspectral imagers, radiometry, focal plane technology, detectors and ROICs, and opto-mechanics.
Active Top Secret clearance is required.
Master's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
Experience with Modtran, Zemax, Doors, Cameo, Agile disciplines.
Active TS/SCI clearance or recent SSBI in last 12 months is preferred.
