    Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking a Radiation Effects Engineer to join our team of creative and diverse engineers. The position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

    The Radiation Effects Engineer researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems that are used in space and defense applications. This Engineer must possess experience with at least 2 of the following: circuit design/simulation, part evaluations, parameter degradation, single event effects, single event upset, single event transients, meteoroid/orbital debris, electron/proton/x-ray transport, nuclear hardening and SGEMP design and analysis, Monte Carlo modeling, atomic oxygen calculations, dose-depth curves, displacement damage-depth curves, dose mapping, radiation testing, radiation exposure, parameter degradation, parametric measurements, software development, and design review presentation/preparation.

    Essential Functions:
    • Radiation effects analysis
    • Shielding analysis
    • Survivability analysis
    • Radiation analysis reporting
    • Simulation of electronic components relative to space radiation effects
    • Nuclear hardening and SGEMP design and analysis
    • Electron/proton/x - ray transport
    • Single event effects, upset, and transients

    Qualifications :

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or closely related discipline
    • 2 years of engineering experience in a related discipline OR 0 years of engineering experience with a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics or closely related discipline
    • Experience performing radiation effects analysis, shielding analysis, and survivability analysis
    • Experience in conducting radiation testing, circuit design/simulation, dose-depth curves, and parameter degradation
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or Top Secret, and SCI clearance
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics from an accredited university
    • Experience with circuit design/simulation, SPICE analyses, electronic component characterization & parameters
    • Experience with single event effects, single event upset, and single event transients
    • Experience with meteoroid/orbital debris, electron/proton/x-ray transport, and atomic oxygen calculations
    • Demonstrated capability to provide design support and participate in design reviews
