    Job Description

    The Payload and Ground Systems division of Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Software Engineering Manager 2. The position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

    AMP has an immediate need for a Sub-Project Manager (SPM) in their ground systems software area for a large restricted program. The SPM will manage a team which will include a Deputy SPM and about 5 to 10 SW engineers. The technical manager must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal communication, and presentation skills, and work closely with the Software Assistant Program Manager (APM). The candidate will be responsible for directing all aspects of the Sub-Project's software tasking from inception through completion. The candidate will be responsible for the direct supervision and management of the Sub-Project, including team tasking and support of management meetings and reviews. This position requires coordination and interfacing with the other SW Sub-Projects, Systems Engineering, external customers, and site personnel. Candidate will work in a dynamic team environment, ensuring personnel follow well-defined processes. The candidate must have the ability to complete tasks with minimal direction and oversight, and mentor junior engineers. The candidate will serve as Control Account Manager, and be responsible for Earned Value Management for the Sub-Project across multiple CLIN's.


    Qualifications :

    Basic Qualifications:
    • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD
    • Experience leading a team of software engineers in software development deliverables and processes
    • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
    • Current SCI access or current DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access prior to start date
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Degree(s) in STEM discipline(s)
    • Experience working with internal and external customers
    • Previous software experience in a C++/Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment
    • Agile/DevOps experience with Scrum Master and Product Ownership experience a plus
    • Previous in-depth domain knowledge of AMP software design and code preferred
    • Five or more years of previous management experience as a Deputy SPM or Technical Lead
    • Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
