    Job Description

    What you will do
    Our team at the Grantley Plant custom designs, develops and manufactures industrial HVAC equipment for Navy vessels around the world. The job consists of performing duties required to plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, fit, braze tubing, thread, weld complex piping, system components and weld coded, and noncoded pressure vessel assemblies and subassemblies, working with ferrous, nonferrous metals, using conventional or automatic submerged arc welding and difficult positions of stick, tig, and manual arc welding of Navy equipment.

    Location: Grantley Plant in York, PA
    Shift: 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm)
    Pay: Starting rate of pay is $25.45 plus .50 shift differential for 2nd shift.
    Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment

    How you will do it
    1. Working from isometric, pictorial drawings, process sheets, welding symbols, specifications, codes, flow diagram, models, MM&G instructions.
    2. Work on floor, guarded platform, ladders or at welding table.
    3. Perform floor erection or fixture assembly of pressure vessels and subassemblies.
    4. Weld in all hand positions.
    5. Finish weld to Navy Code, welding standards.
    6. Lay out from center line or make own lay out as required to locate all internal, external part details, angular, radial, longitudinal relationships.
    7. Lay out, burn out, nut and bolt assembly, fit adjust, tack stud weld, and weld part details, internal and external components, such as heads, lugs, brackets, baffles, piping, valves, fittings, oil coolers, water boxes, covers, make all connections.
    8. Clean, chip dress, rework welds, air arc, gouge out, repair, reweld.
    9. Pressure test, repair leaks.
    10. Remove slag, clean shell interiors.


    What we look for
    Required:

    1. Applicant must pass a Navy MIL Standard weld and layout test that consists of pipe to pipe with backing ring 6G position using filler metal E7018 in order to be hired.
    2. High school diploma or general education degree (GED), with three (3) or more years of welding experience preferred.
    3. Ability to use scale, steel tape, level, combination square set, fixtures, bender, brazing torch, threaded leak detector templates, hand powered tools, guarded platforms, ladders, and other appropriate welding and material handling equipment.
    4. Ability to use shop mathematics, work from prints, sketches, instructions, and use a variety of fractional measuring devices.
    5. Ability to perform physical work continuously to include lifting heavy weight materials while handling chain falls, structural shapes, and in strained work positions.
    6. Ability to work safely at all times. Constant care is necessary to prevent injury.
    7. U.S. citizen.

    Preferred:
    1. Technical or Vocational Welding schooling, or equivalent welding experience.
    2. Experience working with welding of piping for pressure vessels.
    3. Experience working with Shielded Metal Arc, Stick, Tig, Flux Core Arc, and/or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
