    Job Summary

    AECOM is seeking an experienced junior-level environmental engineer with strong technical experience to work within a team to perform technical work, field investigations, field construction management, and manage tasks. The work is out of our Portland, OR office.

    We seek a technically proficient individual that has strong technical capabilities and demonstrated experience successfully addressing the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites, including experience with developing conceptual site models (CSMs) that detail contaminant sources, nature and extent, migration pathways, fate and transport mechanisms, remedial technologies, remedial design, plans and specification preparation, and risk management.

    A successful candidate must be able to write and convey thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner. Excellent communication, organization and prioritization skills will be necessary to work in our collaborative team-oriented offices; strong interpersonal skills are a must.

    Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
    • Working within a team of technical experts and leading teams to successful outcomes to meet clients' needs
    • Evaluating complex environmental data sets, including the use of modeling and statistics
    • Experience with complex flow and contaminant transport in hydrogeological and fluvial systems
    • Experience with remedial technology selection, remedial design, and remediation construction.
    • Experience preparing plans and specifications used for project bidding and construction.
    • Preparing, work plans, and technical reports, and presentations for technical meetings with clients and regulators
    • Engaging in regular client communication relating to project management and technical issues
    • Actively communicating with the technical team and Project Manger
    Minimum Requirements
    • BA/BS in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical engineering or closely related field with 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education or AA/AS with 4 years of relevant experience.
    • Must have a valid U.S. Driver's license
    • Must be able to perform field work as needed.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • 2+ years of experience as an environmental engineer versed in contaminated site investigation and remediation
    • Ability to obtain professional registration
    • Master's degree preferred
    • Knowledge of OR/WA state regulations
    • Experience with developing conceptual site models and preparing remediation strategies
    • Experience with remedial technology selection, remedial design, and remediation construction.
    • Experience preparing plans and specifications used for project bidding and construction.
    • Experience developing and preparing reports for submittal and acceptance for technical clients and regulators
