    Job Description

    Job Summary:

    Directs complex financial compliance programs and activities in Regional Accounting to ensure alignment with the mission, values and objectives of the function and organization. The Director of Regional Accounting will provide strategy, decision support, organizational planning and operational leadership to effectively manage those programs and activities.

    Responsibilities:
    • Develops strategic and very complex departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
    • Plans, organizes and directs all strategic activities related to staffing, including: hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
    • Coordinates and directs very complex internal/external audits.
    • Demonstrates strategic and very high level knowledge of applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements relative to departmental operations and ensures compliance with the same.
    • Directs the organization's internal control effectiveness (ICE) program modeled after Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
    • Directs the Community Benefit reporting committee, including the calculation of Community Benefit provided by System in compliance with IRS and industry guidelines.
    • Coordinates and directs accounting and analysis regarding the organization's employee health plan, cash and bond accounting, and quality alliance programs.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Education:
    • BS or BA in healthcare or business related field required.
    • Master's degree in Business Administration or advanced degree preferred.

    Certifications:
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.

    Work Experience:
    • A minimum of 6-8 years of progressive leadership and managerial experience in a large, multi-facility Hospital, Clinic or Group Practice Hospital.
    • Extensive knowledge of operational revenue cycle management, payroll, accounts payable, fixed asset accounting and reimbursement methodologies and related legislation.
    • Ability to build engagement to drive effective results.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Typical physical demands include a moderate degree of dexterity to produce materials on a computer.
    • This position requires normal or corrected vision and hearing and the ability to verbally communicate with employees and patients.
    • Physical demands include office work and the mobility sufficient to attend meetings in clinical departments throughout the Clinic.
    • This position must be available after hours for support.
