The Cook prepares food items needed for meal service using institutional kitchen equipment, quantity preparation techniques and quantity recipes. Ensures all items are fresh, of high quality and prepared under sanitary conditions in compliance with safe food handling practices. In the absence of the team leader, the cook will supervise the operations within the kitchen.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Able to read, write and speak basic English. Ability to perform complex math calculations and verify cash handling and reporting, where applicable.
Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent. Prior cooking experience or formal culinary training highly desirable. SERVE SAFE certification.
