Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Military and Civil Space Systems is looking for an experienced Sr. Principal Payload Systems Engineer (Level 4) with experience in EO/IR Radiometric Performance modeling, and background and target phenomenology. This person will be supporting new business development efforts, system design concepts and trades, as well as supporting future and existing OPIR programs. The candidate will be working out of our Azusa, CA location.
The candidate will be responsible for developing EOIR mission payload radiometric models, perform mission capability analysis, calibration analysis, spectral band selection, clutter suppression analysis, focal plane performance assessments, optical performance analysis, and model the associated background and target phenomenology. Candidate must have strong background in atmospheric phenomenology, particularly in the Vis/IR of the spectrum. Strong background in sensor modeling and impacts of sensor parameters in mission performance is required. Candidate will be required to communicate analysis results to internal and external customers through reports and presentation materials. The candidate may occasionally travel to support customer out briefs and technical interchange meetings. Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business needs.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field & 9 years of technical engineering experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field & 7 years of technical engineering experience
Current & active DoD secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
Experience with: MATLAB and/or Python, Excel
Familiarity with Systems Engineering processes and methods
Master's in STEM field with physics background preferred
10+ years of technical engineering experience
Experience with: STK, C/C++, SSGM, Modtran (or other radiative transfer modeling), Sensor design and Mission analysis experience
Active TS/SCI security clearance
