    Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer/Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

    Essential Functions:

    The successful candidate will be able to perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems. Concept and design analysis are performed at all levels of total system product. The successful candidate ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into a total systems solution that acknowledges technical constraints. The selected candidate will provide direct engineering support to the design, development, and integration of a set of subsystems software products. The ideal candidate will also be involved with integration and test support activities.
    • Perform requirement and functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements interpretation, and allocation
    • Perform interface analysis, definition, and trade studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications and solutions
    • Develop use cases in a model based design environment
    • Interface regularly with supplier
    • Interface occasionally with the customer

    Qualifications :

    This position can be filled at the Principal Software Engineer OR Sr. Principal Software Engineer level.

    Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer:
    • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience in software engineering OR
    • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of experience in software engineering
    • PhD degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience in software engineering
    • Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++
    • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meets its business needs
    Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer:
    • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of experience in software engineering OR
    • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 7 years of experience in software engineering
    • PhD degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 4 years of experience in software engineering
    • Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++
    • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meets its business needs
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with Electronic Warfare Systems
    • Familiarity with DOORS and Rhapsody
    • Familiarity with systems engineering, architecture, design, and testing processes and concepts
    • Familiarity and experience with the Atlassian tool suite with add-ons like Git, JIRA, and Confluence
    • Familiarity with Open Mission Systems (OMS)
    • Familiarity and experience with Agile software development processes
    • Experience with Eclipse/Visual Studio or other integrated development environment (IDE)
    • Ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
    • Ability to work in as mall team and Integrated Product Team (IPT)
    • An active, in scope, DoD Secret or Top Secret security clearance
