    High volume cardiac catheterization center performing cardiac, peripheral vascular, and structural heart procedures.

    Work Hours & Shifts:

    A rotating schedule allows employees a four-day weekend once per month.

    Occ Summary Work PerformedKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesLevel CharacteristicsAssists physicians in diagnosing and trea ting cardiac and peripheralvascular disease and cardiacarrhythmias in th e Cath/EP Lab specializing in the care of patientsundergoing PTCA, stent placement,IABP placement and EP devices and ablations. Withincreased ex perienceprovides resource andmentoring to new staff while exhibiting enh anced technical skills.Assist the physician during invasive and noninvasiveprocedures totreat cardiac and peripheralvascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias. Maintain high standards toachieve quality patient care.Com municates continuously with the physician about the patient#scondition.- May perform any of the following:# Basic diagnostic catheterization pro cedures on adult patientswith known and suspected congenital and acquire dcardiac and peripheralvascular disease.# Basic interventional procedure swhich may include any of thefollowing: PTCA, stentprep and placement, I ABP placement and operation # Basic EP proceduremay includeany of the fo llowing; EPstudies, implantation of pacemaker, ICD, BIV ICD andablations .Procedural requirements: Room preparation and breakdown to includestock ing rooms, daily QCchecks, radiographic, hemodynamic and computer setup, and room cleanup.Prepare sterileprocedure tray and patient sterile fiel d appropriately for specifiedprocedure type.Evaluate the status of thepa tient during the procedure; provide ageand gender specific care, prepacc ess site according to lab standard practice, and perform EKG leadplaceme nt, blood pressure andpulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring.Ac quire and accurately document pertinent patient data in theelectronichea lth record and enter intohemodynamicand X-ray systems.Operates all phys iologic and radiographic equipment safetly andcorrectly. Assesses proced ure roomfor equipment functioning andreadiness. Obtains supplies forindi vidualcases and ensures allappropriate needs of the Cardiac Cath Laboratory team are met. Observeoccupational and radiationsafety regulations (w earing badges, lead aprons, goggles, gloves)Educate the patient of proce dure expectations before, during and afterthe procedure including post- procedural limitations and restrictions.Participates in perfomance impro vement and continuous qualityimprovement activities.EKG recognition.Prov ide emergency care, EKG recognition.Ability to communication with patien ts, physicians, healthcare team.- The ability to operate radio/console e quipment and transmitinformation generally acquired throughahigh school education. Work also requires completion of the NorthCarolina StateEmerg ency MedicalServices training program or an equivalent program.- Data En try- Excellent Customer Service Skills- Telephone Protocol- Supervisory Skills

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education

    A graduate of a diploma, associate, or baccalaureate academic program in health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing)

    Experience

    Level II: Two (2) years or more experience as Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Level III: Three (3) years or more experience as Cardiovascular Specialist

    Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

    RCIS, RCES, or IBHRE certification required Basic Life Support Certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required within 6 months of hire
