We are looking for a motivated and energetic data scientist or engineer with a passion for applied research.

Team members are encouraged to explore innovative ideas, implement them iteratively to learn quickly, and collaborate with product groups to test them in the wild. Successful candidates will be expected to transform research ideas into concrete implementations. There will be opportunities to collaborate with Microsoft's major product groups and share research outcomes with others via a range of means such as publications.
We seek applicants from researchers across all areas of ML, AI, data mining and related fields. Examples of research areas include machine learning and optimization, deep learning, reinforcement learning, natural language processing, program synthesis, machine teaching, and robotics.
- A PhD in Computer Science or related engineering or science fields.
- Expertise in developing or applying data mining or machine learning algorithms.
- Strong software development skills in one or more of Python, Java/C#, C/C++.
- Excellent problem solving and data analysis skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with reinforcement learning and/or NLP techniques (e.g., word embeddings, transformers, LSTMs, etc.).
- 2+ years of experience with deep learning in PyTorch or Tensorflow/Keras.
- Web development experience.
