Hourly Counselor (Temporary)

Under the direction of the Project Director, Upward Bound English Language Learners Program (ELLs) and the Director of the Consortium for Pre-College Education in Greater Newark, the Counselor will provide program support and coordinate student and parental activities.
Essential functions for the Upward Bound for English Language Learners (ELLs) Program Counselor include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Assists Director in assessing educational needs for project participants and goals and objectives of the UBELL project. 2. Assists with student recruitment by reviewing program enrollment applications and arrange/conduct student interviews. 3. Organizes workshops and other educational/parental activities. 4. Develops and maintains files on each eligible participant for educational and career planning use. 5. Assists students with applications for college admission and financial aid.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree is required. Area of academic discipline in, Psychology, Social Work or other related field. Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with pre-college students from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual (English and Spanish).
Preferred experience with ELLs/ESL minority and disadvantaged high school students.
