    Job Description


    The primary purpose of the Lead Oracle DBA position is to provide technical leadership and engineering for the overall quality of the enterprise database environment. This includes architecture design, development, capacity and performance planning, documentation of deployed frameworks and ongoing evaluations of core technologies for these areas. Lead efforts cross-functionally in adhering to standards and best practices.


    The Lead Oracle DBA will act as subject matter expert on all aspects of database management including Database design, capacity management, security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and automation. Assist with data management - data migration, conversion and archival process. Review and optimize application data access strategies. Design, implement and communicate standardized DBA processes and best practices. Provide oversight and expertise to application development team with SQL query optimization and resolve complex database problems through research, analysis and expertise. Work with application development team to develop database architectures and tuning/coding standards. Enforce database quality standards within the code base. Lead cross-functional meetings with development team, functional team, and application support team to understand application design, requirements necessary to create quality technology solutions. Research new technology in response to enterprise-scale business requirements or systems configurations. Responsible for training and providing technical guidance to team members. Develop relevant documentation for new enterprise-scale technologies that will be supported by other groups. Responsible for ensuring the transition of new enterprise-scale technologies to the deployment and support teams assisting with trouble resolution when needed.


    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or 8+ years experience as Oracle DBA in design and administration of logical and relational databases
    • Demonstrated mastery of previous levels' skills and responsibilities.
    • Expert knowledge of Oracle Database 12c, including installation, administration, backup/recovery and troubleshooting
    • Experience implementing and administering Oracle RAC
    • In-depth knowledge of partitioning, RMAN, Grid Control and Oracle Enterprise Manager
    • Experience with Amazon RDS, RedShift and Azure cloud technologies
    • Must have experience with Linux/AIX
    • Strong performance tuning and database optimization abilities required
    • Experience with data replication, high availability, and data migrations tools and techniques
    • Strong shell scripting
    • Ability to follow strict procedures and be disciplined in installation, documentation, event handling, and change control
    • Proven ability to work with ambiguous requirements
    • Excellent Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
    • Excellent Verbal and Communication Skills
    • Experience in leadership role
    • Ability to operate in a fast paced, ever changing work environment
    • Basic understanding of Project Management Principals
    • Familiarity with Data replication tool - Syncsort MIMIX Share
    • Familiarity with FlashGrid SkyCluster for Azure
    • Familiarity with Quest Foglight
    • Knowledge of Control-M scheduling tool
    • Experience in PCI and SOX compliance environments desired
