B6 is a 29 bed surgical oncology unit with a focus on GYN malignancies. We care for a large variety of oncology patients, with solid tumors, orthopedic cancer and hematologic cancers to name a few. With a large, complex post-surgical population, this setting will allow the development of strong assessment, intervention and communication skills. The unit also cares for patients who develop complications from their disease and complications from complex chemotherapy; during their stay here you will develop strong relationships with both patients and their families. We are searching for energetic and compassionate staff members looking to both develop or advance their post-operative, oncology and chemotherapy skills. With an engaged staff on the unit, we are able to teach new to practice and new to specialty team members. There is a family like feel amongst the staff and we would love to have you as a part of our team. Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, and function as advisor, resource, for patients and their families as a member of the patient care team. Requirements: BSN or ASN with 2+ years of experience required; working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field; Maryland RN license; American Heart Association CPR certification; specialty certification preferred; Microsoft Office Suite; Basic computer skills; Cerner; Healthstream; Standard Office Equipment; Medical terminology; Nursing Process skills based on MD Nurse Practice Act; Critical thinking skills; Medical equipment.
