    Job Description

    OBJECTIVE: Deliver superior products of high quality and low cost while continuing the commitment to the growth

    Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary

    - Supervises at least one QA Team Leader

    - Directly or indirectly supervises up to 15 QA Partners

    - Responsible for QMS and related outcomes in one or two manufacturing operations

    - Assists in the development of plant specific procedures and work instructions

    - Independently deploys plant specific procedures and work instructions

    - Performs food safety and hygiene audits on similar manufacturing operations

    - Performs process audits on similar manufacturing operations

    - Monitors and reports internally on key performance metrics

    - Presents food quality assurance and food technology training

    - Designs, implements, evaluates and maintains quality assurance procedures, sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques

    - Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment

    - Analyzes production and service processes and control limits and capabilities

    - Recommends revisions of specifications when indicated

    - Formulates or helps to formulate quality assurance policies and procedures

    - Conducts training on quality assurance concepts and tools

    - Acts as a liaison with regulatory agencies, academia and professional organizations

    - Identifies process improvement opportunities in conjunction with representatives from other departments

    - Finds application opportunities for QA breakthrough strategies and tools, both internal and external to specialty areas

    - Acts as a mentor and coach to both Quality Team Leaders and Quality Coordinators on Quality Assurance/Control issues

    - Provides functional SME services for specialty area and trains all areas of Quality Assurance

    - Identifies new business opportunities through partnerships with suppliers, customers, academia, trade and professional organizations in specialty area and other senior QA leaders within the organization

    - Responsible for input and recommendations to Director regarding modifications to all types of standards and the audit program

    - Acts as lead Auditor and audit trainer for specialty area

    - Provides input and recommendations on significant policy changes to ensure regulatory compliance and QA principles are properly aligned in specialty area within the directorate

    - Sources and develops training plans and lessons to remedy training gaps within assigned directorate

    - Direct involvement in the quality aspects of all capital projects

    - Responsible for budgeting/expense control for Quality Assurance/Control functions including, but not limited to, QA supplies, labor and other accounts as assigned by leader

    - Performs microbiological analysis on samples, swabs and water using acceptable and established techniques

    - Maintains laboratory records IAW ISO 17025 standards

    - Interprets results of microbiological samples and prepares reports to supervisory levels as required

    - Secondary technical resource for Plant Quality Coordinators

    - Provides input on staffing levels and participates in sourcing and interviewing Quality Assurance Team Leader I and II candidates for assigned plants

    - Assists Quality Team Leaders I and monitors Quality Team Leaders II with annual QA budget and expense controls

    Education and Experience preferred

    - Master's Degree Required (Master's Degree preferred)

    - Requires 3-5 years of Experience (3 or more years of direct leadership and manufacturing experience including function experience in quality, production, Lean and Six Sigma)

    - ASQ Certification as a Quality Manager

    - ABE Leadership Course, Team Leader experience in multiple plants (internal or external to H-E-B)

    - Entry-level skills in capital planning process, budgeting, financial statement analysis, plant capacity studies, succession planning, Hoshin Planning, and business benchmarking
    Qualifications :

    - Entry-level experience as trainer in classroom and on the floor

    - Advanced written, verbal facilitation and presentation skills

    - ASQ Certified Engineer and Auditor - preferred; must achieve certification within 24 months of start date.

    - Intermediate knowledge of Task Hazard Analysis (THA) for plant.

    - Intermediate skills with operating internal and external software systems at an intermediate level; specifically in areas of database/spreadsheet work, word processing programs, Statistical and QA software.

    - Advanced oral and written, technical report writing, public speaking to large groups at all levels within the organization

    - Intermediate working knowledge of: industry regulatory and compliance issues, EEOC, and other employment laws

    Physical and Other Requirements

    - Travel by car or airplane with overnight stays

    - Work extended hours

    - Work rotating schedules

    - The work environment characteristics described are representative of those encountered in the work environments of HEB Plants.

    - Ambient temperatures range from -20F to 100+F; most often they are 65-85F
