    Job Description

    Performs and oversees the work of business system analysts determining and translating functional requirements into detailed application specification documents using best practices and a sound knowledge of software design lifecycles. Serves as a supervisor, coach and mentor to other IT business analysts.

    • Leads and facilitates business process analysis sessions to analyze user needs and incorporates subject matter expertise and technologists in functional areas as required
    • Devises and/or modifies business processes to solve complex problems considering capacity and limitations, operating time and form of desired results
    • Translates understanding of anticipated business changes and creates functional design specifications in collaboration with business stakeholders and subject matter experts for reports, forms, processes, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and custom capabilities
    • Utilizes knowledge of business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment
    • Provides functional guidance during the software design and development processes, bringing awareness to business constraints and applies creative thinking and problem solving to maximize opportunities for innovation
    • Reviews and develops user documentation and training materials, when appropriate, for more complex projects ensuring that customer concerns, comments and any feedback is processed and addressed in a meaningful and consistent manner
    • Works with IT development and IT QA domains to develop, implement and maintain standards for business requirements documentation including functional requirements, process diagrams, use cases, business impact assessments, high level test plans and other documentation determined to be required
    • Works with IT Project Managers to define and implement roles and responsibilities for SDLC activities for Project Managers and Business Analysts and assists project managers in preparation of appropriate management reports and provides explanations for delays and/or makes recommendations for improvement on more complex projects
    • Supports all phases of testing by clarifying requirements, researching detailed issues and evaluating solutions for business value in support of projects
    • Creates and prioritizes list of post-installation enhancements or modifications and participates in conducting end user training and provides support for cutover activities throughout the change's transition to operations
    • Acts as a 'steward' for requirements and anticipated business value through the strategy, design, transition and operation phases of project
    • Oversees and gives work assignments to others on Business Analyst team; guides and advises less-experienced analysts
    • Works with enterprise architect to document data interfaces and exchanges between systems
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Provides leadership and guidance to other Business Analysts to coach, motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development
    • Supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
    • Ensures that Business Analysts produce work products that align with BFS IT procedures, methods and models and if not, provide guidance on how to bring their deliverables into compliance
    • Collaboration with other business units and senior level management
    • Establish and track KPIs for the business analyst department
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
    • Ten (10) years of experience in technical business analysis
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Excellent interviewing skills including meeting facilitation and business process analysis
    • Strong project management skills and/or Certified Project Manager
    • Established strategic, critical analysis and decision making skills
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with both IT and the business
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including SharePoint and MS-Project
    • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
