Under the direction of the Radiation Oncologists and general supervision of the Medical Physicists, the primary role of the dosimetrist is to initiate and see-through the treatment planning process for external beam proton treatment plans. Additionally, the medical dosimetrist will, on occasion, aid in special procedures and brachytherapy treatment planning. As the program develops, the dosimetrist will also provide training to dosimetrists, physicists, radiation oncologists and affiliate trainees in dosimetry, supports and adheres to BHSF safety and compliance program to include OSHA, HIPAA and the Code of Ethics.
Non-RTT - Bachelors degree in a physical science and a graduate of a formal dosimetry program required. Direct dosimetry experience and Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) required.
RTT - Graduate from an accredited radiation therapy program. At least 1 year actively practicing as an RTT and at least 7 years direct multi-modality dosimetry experience and Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) required. ARRT certified and hold valid state license for radiation therapy. Experience with multiple treatment planning platforms (Varian's Eclipse program, Elekta's Monaco program, etc.). Direct experience with treatment planning for cancers of the brain, head and neck. Direct experience with IMRT, hypo fractionation and other prescription delivery methods. Expertise in the use of Electronic Medical Record platforms. Minimum Required Experience: 7 years
