    Position Summary

    The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Department of Psychiatry invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term child and adolescent psychologist. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of clinicians who provide diagnostic, stabilization, and treatment services for the Department of Psychiatry Division of Child and Adolescent inpatient units as well as an outpatient pediatric specialty clinic.

    We are looking for a Psychologist specifically experienced in Child and Adolescent psychology who can work on both the inpatient service (75% time) and outpatient service (25%). The inpatient service roles would include participating in assessments on complex patients, carrying a select case load and helping to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans. This psychologist would be working as a part of a multidisciplinary team to provide evidenced based treatment for select cases along with more in-depth psychological testing when indicated. The psychologist would also take a leadership role in unit program development for the inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric services, with ongoing responsibilities of supervision of psychology trainees and trainings for multidisciplinary team members.

    Educational Requirements

    Required Qualifications:
    • A PhD in clinical psychology with appropriate training in psychology and an APA-approved internship
    • At least one year of supervised post-doctoral fellowship training
    • Strong therapy skills and experience in the treatment of adolescents
    • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary environment.
    • Interest and experience working with under served populations
    • North Carolina Licensure or License Eligible

    Qualifications and Experience

    The successful candidate will have strong training in CBT skills and models of Distress Tolerance with adolescents; Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy knowledge helpful. Experience with populations of adolescents developing psychosis, those which trauma histories and mood disorders particularly in an inpatient setting is strongly preferred. Teaching activities will include participation in the training of psychology externs/interns, pediatric and psychiatry medical residents and fellows. There is also the opportunity for conducting professional lectures and training seminars.
