Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Software Quality Engineer (Level 4) to join our team in Azusa, CA.
This qualified engineer must have knowledge and experience in Systems and Software Quality Assurance principles and practices in a Space Environment including requirements development and management, design, implementation, integration, testing and process / product evaluation.
The engineer will develop, modify, apply, and maintain processes for systems and software quality operating methods and procedures. The engineer will define and monitor quality specifications and plans to ensure mission success of programs. The engineer will develop the overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the systems/software quality program according to project, process and contractual requirements and objectives. The engineer will oversee the tailoring and implementation of system/software development and maintenance processes and methods. The engineer will ensure that project and process control documentation are compliant with the requirements, objectives and/or contract. The engineer will perform or direct verification of system requirements, software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability. The engineer will verify design, change specifications and plans against contractual and/or process requirements. The engineer will review applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies. The engineer will oversee system/software inspection, testing, verification and validation as well as ensure measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
Additionally, the engineer will apply extensive technical expertise, possess knowledge of other related disciplines, perform work without appreciable direction, and may function in a project leadership role. The engineer will represent the Quality Assurance organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects, and interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations. The engineer will develop technical solutions to complex problems, communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings, exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments, and guide the successful completion of major programs. The engineer will assess program performance and risks, and determine resources to ensure system/software quality assurance. The engineer will perform root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement.
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field & 9 years of systems, software, and software quality engineering experience, OR a Master's in a STEM field & 7 years systems, software, and software quality engineering experience
Experience leading and working in a team environment
Experience with waterfall, spiral, iterative and agile development environments
Experience with all phases of Systems and Software development lifecycles
Experience with CMMI and AS9100
Experience conducting software and systems engineering process and product quality evaluations
Current & active DoD Top Secret security clearance
Experience with Cyber Security practices
BS or MS in Computer science with emphasis on systems/software engineering
Experience with remote sensing and OPIR systems and software
Current & active TS/SCI Security Clearance
