Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Engineering Manager 3 - Crew System IPT Lead tojoin our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
The selected manager will lead the Crew Systems IPT for a Strike Division activity, overseeing a team of approximately 20 technical personnel across multiple disciplines involved with Pilot Controls and interfaces, Escape Systems, Transparencies, Displays and Consoles, etc. At a top level, the selected candidate will ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer and/or product requirements into a total system solution within the bounds of applicable technical, schedule, and cost constraints. To accomplish top level objectives the selected candidate will perform technical planning from proposal development through completion; requirements allocation, verification and validation; cost management; change management (technical and change control review boards), and risk/issue/opportunity management.
Additionally, the selected candidate will manage the integration of multiple Crew Systems into the aircraft, in coordination with other affected disciplines. This position requires extensive management of multiple suppliers and participate in contract changes and negotiations at the supplier and customer levels. The individual will conduct internal and support leadership and customer design reviews, and ensure all required technical documentation is created to support qualification, certification, airworthiness, contract deliverables, and other needs as appropriate. This effort includes design and analyses for all levels of the total system product including conceptual design, detailed design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. The ideal candidate will have proven success in facilitating across peer and senior relationships, strong and proactive organizational skills, and deep program management knowledge.
While not a functional position, this role includes management of staff skill mix and size required to execute the statement of work, as well as training, coaching/mentoring, career development, and performance management of the team. These activities will be conducted in close coordination with the functional homeroom to support employee growth and satisfaction, while assisting in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new employees, and supporting performance evaluation of assigned employees.
Travel will be required for this position and could be as high at 25% of the time during certain periods.
Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 13+ years of engineering experience in Aerospace.
An active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain / maintain Special Program Access prior to commencement of employment
Technical Expertise in one or more of the following Crew Systems areas: Pilot Controls, Breathing Gas, Transparencies, Lighting, Crew Panels, Escape Systems.
Must have experience in Crew System design, analysis, integration and test and strong supplier management
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
MS Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
Experience with analyzing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) results.
Cost Account Management experience.
Active Secret DOD clearance and the ability to gain Special Program Access
