    Job Description

    The Radiation Effects & Survivability Engineer will perform radiation effects analysis, shielding analysis, survivability analysis, radiation analysis reporting, and simulation of electronic components relative to space radiation effects. In this role, the Radiation Effects and Survivability engineer is expected to be a self-starter, receptive to mentorship, and have excellent communication and time management skills.

    A suitable candidate will have a broad knowledge or experience in a number of the following responsibilities:
    - Radiation analysis for satellite payload systems
    - Test plans and test reports for radiation testing of electronic components (e.g. total dose, prompt dose and single event upset)
    - Radiation predictions using NOVICE, SPENVIS, CREME96 and other radiation analysis tools
    - Radiation effects on material degradation
    - Interface with multiple disciplines such as program management, electrical, mechanical, systems engineering, procurement, subcontractors, manufacturing and test
    - Present radiation requirements and compliance at PDRs, CDRs and other program reviews as required

    Essential functions of the role include the following analyses:
    - Device Single Event Effects, Burnouts, Latchups, Upsets and Transients in electronic circuits
    - Circuit design mitigations to reduce or eliminate risk of Single Event Effects failure
    - Total Ionizing Dose parametric degradation
    - Displacement Damage Dose impact on optoelectronics
    - Deep Charging (Internal Electron Flux) applied to spacecraft component boxes and external harnesses
    - Spacecraft radiation shielding & modeling

    Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.


    Qualifications :

    Basic Qualifications:

    - BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics or closely related technical discipline
    - 5 years experience with a BS degree, or 3 years experience with a MS, or a PhD degree
    - Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:

    - Knowledge of the physics associated with radiation effects in semiconductor devices

    - Parts engineering experience in an aerospace company
    - Experience with radiation tools like NOVICE, AE9AP9, CremeMC, etc.
    - Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance
