Printing Services Technician 4
Performs advanced reproduction work for HHS Printing Services. Work involves
offset printing assignments operating multiple types of offset presses requiring a full range of press operating skills in addition to the set-up and operation of various bindery equipment. Print work will range from single color to 4 color process. Successfully perform maintenance and operation of equipment in accordance with shop and safety standards. Works under direction of the production manager/team leader, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
Essential Job Functions:
Operate print shop equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Able to produce quality work in a timely manner from written instructions. Perform daily wash ups and regular maintenance as required. Familiarity with various paper types and weights, PMS system, use of densitometer and color bars. Enters completed job information into system.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Possess a solid understanding of offset printing. The ability to produce quality 4 color process work on a variety of printing presses and bindery equipment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as run sheets, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply in all units of measure. Ability to identify various paper types and weights. Be able to verify proper ink color and density on paper. Can produce quality work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines. Skilled at troubleshooting problems and finding solutions to complete jobs. Must have basic mechanical aptitude. Willingness to be cross-trained and the ability to adapt to change.

Initial Selection Criteria:
Minimum 5 years' experience operating printing and bindery equipment. High school diploma or GED required. Preferred candidate will have experience operating: multi-color Heidelberg presses, Jet press, web press, MBO Folders, Duplo booklet makers, polar cutters.
Must be able to lift and move 30 lbs. Position requires frequent use of a pallet jack to move materials. Requires long periods of standing and also involves movement in and around the work area and machines. Requires some bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and twisting as well as a significant amount of work involving hand and eye coordination. Daily exposure to chemicals, solvents, and fumes. Work environment contains significant noise exposure; Ear plugs are not required but provided.
