    In order for Microsoft to deliver ground-breaking technologies for consumers and enterprises every day, equally ground-breaking security work is being completed by Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams across Microsoft. The High Value Asset (HVA) Services Systems Engineering team is delivering complex and highly available online services both in Azure and in on-premise solutions, pioneering methods to deliver key management, signing, and other critical highly secured services to internal and external customers that touch nearly every part of Microsoft.

How each individual part of the service works and its place in relation to everyone else's systems and services in the ultimate goal of a smooth and secure end-user experience and how we can improve every piece, every day. We use best-in-class first-party tooling to build, maintain, and troubleshoot complex end-to-end services while still retaining our security-first posture which presents a unique challenge for our team, requiring a skillset beyond knowing a typical IT toolset or security toolset, but a fascinating combination of both.

    HVA Services Systems Engineering has an immediate opportunity for an SRE to join our team in Redmond. The successful candidate will be a solid individual contributor on a team of Security Service Engineers and Security SREs spanning multiple continents managing services and infrastructure around the world in both on-premise and Azure environments. This position wears many hats, and success in this role will allow you to exercise your skills across many different Systems Engineering disciplines while building up your security skillset.


    2+ years of relevant SRE/SE experience with an Automation focus in both large and small-scale mission critical services where security, compliance, and risk management are key requirements

    PowerShell or similar scripting proficiency required, C# or other similar language a plus

    Azure deployment and hosting best practices, including PaaS, IaaS, and SaaS solutions

    Recent Application Insights/Azure Monitor, Azure Automation, and OMS experience or equivalent Azure management experience

    On-prem systems management, deployment, and troubleshooting capabilities

    Experience working in environments with high standards for physical and logical security including work with HSMs and technologies such as Azure Key Vault and Azure Confidential Computing

    Application service-level end-to-end monitoring and telemetry implementation and troubleshooting experience along with PKI lifecycle management

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as a mentorship "teach first" attitude

    Ideal candidates also have:

    BS in an engineering field such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering or comparable experience

    Project management skills with experience helping to propel projects to completion

    Working knowledge of ITIL and/or MOF as well as Agile methodologies

    One or more related certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, MCSE/MCSD, ISSAP, Security+, or GCIA

    Demonstrated strengths in core network and host systems technologies including security monitoring and analysis and experience with host-based security technologies and controls

    Other requirements:

    Ability to participate in periodic on-call duty as part of service support model

    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:
