    Position Summary:

    L3Harris Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division specializes in developing disruptive, next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV), advanced radar systems, next-generation weapon systems, and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience.

    We are searching for aGNC Engineer3 in our Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) division, located inTucson,AZ.

    As a GNC Engineer3you will work with cross-functional engineering teams to quickly provide solutions for our customers. This position provides advanced concept development, design, implementation, test, and evaluation of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The position can include time in office, lab, and infrequent flight test environments depending on program/task.

    Major Job Activities:
    • Support simulation/software development and task scoping/status
    • Develop dynamic vehicle aerodynamic, propulsion, and hardware/sensor models
    • Develop guidance algorithms to provide mission capability
    • Design and tune controllers for vehicle stability and control
    • Integrate a suite of sensor feedback for Navigation and Guidance algorithms development
    • Analyze system performance, capabilities, sensitivities, and issues using a variety of methods
    • Support Growth of GNC Functional Organization through creation of process/technical resources
    • Analysis support of root-cause failure identification and resolution studies
    • Create design/results for presentation to internal and external customers
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability obtain and maintain a secret DoD clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain additional clearances as required
    • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Mathematics (Advanced degree preferred)
    • Demonstrated Technical Capability in at least one GNC discipline (Guidance, Target State Estimation, Navigation, Control Theory,Vehicle Modeling)
    • Demonstrated design and integration experience with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) autopilots/flight computers such asPiccolo/PCC, PixHawk, and Arduino
    • Excellent problem solving and math skills
    • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and Microsoft Office products
    • Ability towork, and collaboratein a fast-paced, agile development environment across multiple engineering disciplines
    • Demonstrated Behavioral Competencies (Positive Attitude, Mentoring, Emotional Intelligence, Teaming, Delegation, Strong Work Ethic)
    • Demonstrated Communication Skills (written, verbal, and presentation for internal and externalcustomers)
    Preferred Skills
    • Familiarity with a variety of missionsensors (radar, optical, etc) types, modes, and stabilization
    • Familiarity with a variety of vehicle sensors (GPS, Antenna, IMU, ADS, etc) types and modes
    • Familiarity with a variety of tracker types
    • Background in physics/rigid body dynamics
