    The Millennium Scholars Program has positions for Program Assistants for the Summer Bridge Program from June 15-August 1, 2020 at University Park Campus. Millennium Scholars is a merit-based scholarship program designed to prepare students for the pursuit of doctoral degrees in the STEM disciplines.

    Applicants should be at least a 5th semester student in good standing, have a major in the College of Agricultural Sciences, College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Information Sciences and Technology or the Eberly College of Science, and be available for the entire program.

    The objectives of Summer Bridge are to create a community of scholars; provide academic preparation; provide leadership training and introduce students to research.

    Program assistants will support the professional staff in achieving these objectives by facilitating activities and seminars, providing direct instruction to program participants and modeling the behavior and values of the Millennium Scholars Program. Program assistants will assist the staff in the planning and supervision of program activities and provide support and encouragement to program participants throughout the bridge. Program assistants will also support participants during daily study halls by providing tutoring. Program assistants will communicate regularly with professional staff regarding program activities and the progress of program participants. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to work well with diverse populations, work well in teams, have a positive attitude, and be familiar with using video conferencing platforms.

    Applicants will need reliable internet access for the entire program. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and name and contact information for one reference. Preference will be given to students who are STEM majors, have completed or are enrolled in the Millennium Scholars program or have completed a similar math intensive summer bridge program and have additional availability from August 9 through August 24, 2020. Review of applications will begin on April 17, 2020 until all positions are filled.
