    Optum Medical Benefit Management (MBM) addresses the need to manage costly, complex, highly-visible disease states that can be treated at multiple sites of care and have wide variation in outcomes. MBM products/solutions leverage capabilities across the spectrum of benefit management to reduce total cost of care, manage organizational risk and improve outcomes for people facing complex disease states including transplant, cancer, kidney disease, heart disease and musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.

    Musculoskeletal (MSK) is one of many top disease states driving high spend and the MBM MSK product suite is an important set of products/solutions designed to reduce unnecessary costs while delivering quality outcomes and lowering total cost of care. Implantable devices are a major driver of MSK procedure costs. We are looking to create a comprehensive approach to managing Implants cost and quality used in MSK procedures by working with device manufacturers and care providers via UnitedHealth Care insurance.

    This Implants Product Leader will be dedicated to lead new product development and management; roadmap build, execution and innovation of solution delivery critical to enabling MBM's growth. Establishing both internal and external relationships will be critical in driving viable program designs, relevant market value positioning and executable sales.

    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Define and lead Implants new product development and management to bring new comprehensive approach(s) to manage implant cost to market
    • Identify Implants management program; build pilot and launch new solution
    • Effectively identify and frame Implants opportunity, translating a vision into processes and requirements
    • Manage profitable product performance at both client and market level, changing course or enhancing program design to ensure market needs are met
    • Forecast revenue and savings opportunities associated with product initiatives (Implants); drive internal capital resources to support capability development needs
    • Partner with functional area stakeholders to enable successful development and delivery of creative program solutions
    • Navigate and influence multiple cross-functional teams in a complex, matrix work environment
    • Manage initiatives that require problem solving, relationship building, influencing and analyzing
    • Work closely with the sales team to develop and support sales strategy and product value messaging

    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Minimum of 10 + Years of experience in product development/management within the medical device industry
    • Implants/ Medical device experience/knowledge including relationships with surgeons, purchasers of implants, Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) and insurers
    • Proven ability to operate in a matrix organization and work effectively with leadership, customers, and across organization boundaries
    • Experience in leading complicated, cross-functional projects
    • Strong demonstrated ability to lead business initiatives to a successful result
    • Demonstrated leadership ability with cross-functional teams and consensus builder
    • Good negotiation, problem solving, planning and decision-making skills. Accurately scopes out projects, sets objectives and goals, develops schedules and resource assignments, measures performance against goals, and evaluates results
    • Excellent follow through, attention to detail, and time management skills
    • Ability to influence
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • MBA or Master's degree
    • Out of the box eagerness to break through the limitations of insurance based systems
    • Upstream Product Marketing / Management experience
    • Ability to manage projects simultaneously and achieve goals. Uses resources effectively and efficiently
    • Experience working in MSK and/or other highly complex clinical areas
    • Experience in Agile development processes is a plus
    • Effective formal presentation and facilitation skills in a variety of setting
