Jacobs National Intelligence Sector is seeking a Database Administrator to join a growing team in creating mission-critical applications for a high-visibility government customer. The database administrator must be a motivated self-starter who thrives in small team environments to meet customer objectives. The candidate will be responsible for data confidentiality, integrity, and availability of several operational and development level databases. The candidate must possess a strong Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database background to protect, develop, migrate, and integrate data solutions. In addition to database administration tasks, the administrator must be willing to learn new skill sets to support a dynamic software development environment. The candidate must excel in small-groups, periodically tackle non-traditional database administrator tasks, and perform in an agile environment. This opportunity requires the candidate to be willing to tackle new challenges and propose solutions to the development group. Job Description: - Experience with MS SQL Server and Oracle database systems to include the management and monitoring of database applications - Execute and validate database tasks to include database backups, upgrades, replication, mirroring, and other high-availability tasks ensuring the protection of customer data. - Skilled at resolving database performance issues based on monitoring tool inputs - Apply database updates and implement secure configurations to comply with NIST, DOD, DOJ, and FBI security requirements. - Document configuration and restoral procedures to comply with NIST contingency plan requirements. - Work in conjunction with development team to migrate databases to support application development and database consolidation efforts. - Plan and manage the migration of databases to new technologies and solutions to support tighter database integration and to reduce customer licenses and support costs. - Integrate with software development efforts using Microsoft Visual Studio and other development tools
Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.
Inside office/cubicle environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).
Equipment and Machines
Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.
Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (1%).
