The Host/Hostess is primarily responsible for the delivery and pick up of patient trays, stocking the units, delivery, filling out and pick up of patient menus. The Host/Hostess promotes favorable guest relations and continuously express the core value and philosophy of the health center QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent required. Able to demonstrate ability to read. Previous experience with modified diets and food service preferred. Must display good communication skills and promote favorable guest relations EXPERIENCE:
Experience Preferred KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Follows detailed written and oral instructions. Completes specific, routine tasks. Requires basic reading, writing, or simple arithmetic skills. May operate basic equipment/machinery.
Work is routine. Make decisions based on detailed procedures: technical aids generally available. Has clear-cut alternative available and usually follows a specified course of action.
Impact is generally focused on immediate work areas. May also affect closely related activities in other work units or teams on a temporary basis. Influence is indirect and supportive in nature. Accountability is restricted. Activities are usually assigned by others. PRINCIPAL JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Effective communication to all is essential. Much communication with the patients, staff and and the food service departments is essential. Displays a customer service attitude at all times. Friendly and accommodating to the patients needs. Identify the patient name and pass the correct food trays to patients Make second round for any items that the patient might need. Collect menus from each patient ( including food preferences) Document all menus collected and pass on information to the diet office on menus that could not be collected. Evaluate floor stock and take appropriate amount to the floors. Promotes favorable guest relations and continues to express the core values and the hospital philosophy in daily work activities. Works flexible hours. Works as needed for special events or other shifts. Respects confidentiality of peers, employees and patients Adherence to safety and sanitation procedures within the department Responsible for preparing food supply requisition as needed Cleans all carts used to deliver food Performs other duties as assigned Delivers and late trays Picks up patient's food trays. Checks kitchenettes on units and brings soiled trays to main kitchen. Answers phone in timely fashion, courteously and friendly. Greets, identifies self and department upon answering each call. Prepares appropriate menu for the patient, legibly heads labels with meal choice, changes, diet order and nourishment. Legibly prepares forms for daily meal calorie count rounds and posts for patient services. Conducts calorie counts on floor for patients who are on a calorie count. Organizes and updates menus prior to service, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Maintains tally list of hot/cold foods/nourishments and sends to kitchen. Maintains nourishment, tube feeding and diet order lists and tally of needed menu items. Attends all department/hospital inservice, orientation and other meetings as required. Contacts RD/DTR as needed. Generates computer sheets for patients' current diet and NPO list. Generates meal labels to record patients' meal choices for the day. Has knowledge and understanding of the modified diets. Adheres to the spoken menu which consists of breakfast, lunch and dinner orders. Allows the patient to make appropriate selections and offers suggestions all within the prescribed diet. Menu correction is done at the bedside daily. Uses a closing script with tray pickup.
