The Ken and Mary Alice Lindquist Department of Nuclear Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University seeks an experienced professional to develop and manage relations with external stakeholders including corporations, small businesses, government entities and NGOs, and establish strategic initiatives within the department in the areas of nuclear and plasma science and technology. The successful candidate will work with internal and external stakeholders to identify the strategies and implement the tactics to ensure the growth and sustainability of the department. The position will report to Professor and Department Head, Dr. Jean Paul Allain and will involve coordination with College of Engineering staff in communications, development, alumni and industry relations along with other key personnel at the University.
Working in concert with the Department Head, primary responsibilities include the following:
- Managing and evolving the existing plans to ensure that the Department's industrial, alumni and philanthropic relations' primary objectives are met
- Working with faculty, staff and student leadership to ensure that internal stakeholder insights are gathered, aligned, and integrated into the department's short-term and long-term objectives as they assist the Department Head to establish the strategic plan for the department
- Help devise and implement an external relations strategy to integrate external knowledge into internal plans, marketing initiatives, and communication strategies, identifying and building external nuclear and plasma science and engineering relations that may also include other similar independent or university-based programs, and overseeing programs and liaising with advisory boards that are identified as part of strategic and tactical planning to ensure that timelines are met, appropriate knowledge and reports are disseminated, all in accordance with University rules and requirements
- Support the Department Head with the department's Industrial and Professional Advisory Council (IPAC) and the newly established Neutron Science Advisory Council (NSAC)
The position requires a bachelor's degree in engineering or higher plus at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred experience includes a bachelor's degree in engineering and experience within workplace settings that combines knowledge from a relevant technical discipline with strategic planning and tactical implementation, partnership-building, collaboration, and responsibility for project deliverables within a nuclear science and engineering industry context. Candidates should have a proven record of working well in a team or on independent projects, being self-motivated and innovative, multi-tasking, and having excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding. CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:
