    This iswork interviewing and/or determining eligibility of participants applying for WIC benefits.

    Job Description

    Interviewing potential and current clients applying for the WIC program to determine eligibility. Reviews clients' proof of income and completes the income, family information, screening forms into FL-WISE for all clients. Verifies Medicaid Status. Explain rights and obligations of the WIC program to the client. Obtains necessary medical and/or WIC records and issues ID/VOC cards for clients receiving WIC services. Issue EBT card and benefits explaining all information related to benefits and clients use, while giving all appropriate document information. Provide Voter Registration Forms if requested. Educate WIC participants on various nutrition-related themes, healthy eating and breastfeeding promotion.

    Travel is required.

    Must have reliable transportation.

    Should have basic computer knowledge and skills.

    Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special Needs Shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

    EXAMPLES OF WORK

    Conducts abbreviated interviews for the purpose of collecting and updating required information on applicants and recipients and their household members for WIC BENEFITS.

    Requests all additional information/verification required to establish or continue eligibility

    Ensures electronic case records are documented thoroughly and properly as required by Department procedures.

    Prepares and assists applicants in completion of routine intake and personnel forms.

    Explains eligibility requirements, form completion requirements, community resources for financial assistance, and/or provides program benefits.

    Interprets and explains rules and regulations governing eligibility and applicant's legal rights and obligations, and use of program benefits.
