    Leidos is searching for a Systems Engineer, Senior to work onsite in Martinsburg, WV at the Capital Region Readiness Center. The Senior Systems Engineer will provide senior-level Windows and website maintenance and administration who has the thorough knowledge to create plans to assure effective management, operations, and maintenance of systems and/or networks. The candidate will assist in providing technical input to the systems engineering process, manages teams of system admins, and is expected to prioritize work and identify high-risk critical problems and dedicate appropriate resources. Candidate will have extensive knowledge of a high-volume/high-availability systems.

The mission of Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OI&T), Information Technology (IT) Operations and Services (ITOPS), Infrastructure Operations (IO) is to support One VA world-class service to Veterans and their families by delivering results-oriented, secure, highly available and cost-effective information technology services. IO support helps to provide critical services focusing on consistent availability of Veteran-facing applications and quick delivery of benefits for Veterans.

    Primary Responsibilities

    This Senior Systems Engineer will provide technical support in system architecture, system design, system integration and technical management. The individual will assist in providing technical input to the systems engineering process. Will lead teams in developing application and technical plans. Guide customers in the installation and use of strategic products through education and guidance, first-use and tuning assistance problem solving and critical situation resolution. Requirements include; concentrated focus on security implementation, operating systems characteristics and volume management, security event assessment, WordPress administration, and SharePoint administration.

    The qualified candidate will have expert-level skills in the following:
    • Virtualization (Emphasis on Hyper-V, but VMware is important as well)
    • Windows Server 2012R2, 2016
    • Web hosting Infrastructure
      • IIS (Knowledge of non-Microsoft web servers like Apache and Linux is helpful as well)
      • Content management (Content publishing tools, CDNs, etc.)
    • Public and private cloud infrastructure and concepts
    • Databases (Microsoft SQL, MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB, etc.)
    • WordPress administration
    • SharePoint architecture, including and farm design and administration
    • SharePoint designer skills
    • Workflows
    • Office 365
    • Migration of sites from on-premises to office 365
    • System Center Operations Manager
    • SQL AlwaysOn
    High-level skills in:
    • Scripting (Emphasis on PowerShell but other scripting languages are helpful, too)
    • Common network protocols and services (TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, DNS, etc.)
    • Network routing and firewalls.
    • Storage protocols (Fiber Channel, Fiber Channel over Ethernet, iSCSI)
    • Exercises discretion over technical issues, problems and resolutions
    • Possesses a significant level of specialized technical and functional expertise
    • No supervisory responsibility.
    • This position requires highly specialized knowledge, abilities, skills and experience and often exercise independent judgement in the performance of their duties.
    • The individual formulates recommendations consistent with directives, policies, standards and regulations. Work is judged primarily on overall results with great latitude in determining work methods and assignment requirements.
    Basic Qualifications
    • Master's Degree from an accredited college in a Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required with 10 years of professional experience; or 20 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education.
    • US Citizen with the ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance. Federal Government requirement
    • SharePoint Experience is required for this position; WordPress administration experience is desired.
