The Oncology Financial Specialist will be responsible for identifying coverage issues impacting the oncology patient and possible alternate sources of coverage through healthcare and community agencies and resources. Works with patients who are under-insured and identifies alternate resources. Performs comprehensive benefit analysis for patients with insurance coverage issues. Coordinates financial assistance process, including patient contact, submission of financial assistance application and Medicaid/ Medicare application process. Tracks coverage issues throughout the treatment period and provides clinical team with information on status of coverage issues. Assists with coverage for lodging and transportation needs for patients coming from outside the metro area. Researches assistance options. Follows up with agencies assisting in application and provides weekly and monthly reports to supervisor.
Two years college or extensive healthcare financial services experience (4-6 years). Database knowledge and experience. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently. Knowledge of and experience in the utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and graphic presentation computer applications.
